March 29th, 2019. Mark the date.

Brexit is going to happen and most of the companies are moving their Europe HQs from London (UK) to various cities in Europe.

The ‘big shots recipients’ of moving of these offices are the Western European countries, which have a considerable higher economy among all the 28 EU countries are Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium etc. every country in EU is going to open up to the ‘idea’ of these companies opening up its offices.

EY report already confirms that 75/222 companies have made their plans of moving their offices to Amsterdam in Netherlands or Berlin in Germany. So is UK losing? Maybe! Are we painting a picture which shows UK is losing? Maybe, again! Is EU winning? Definitely Yes.

Who else is losing? US for sure!

For close to half a century (or a century!) the strategy of US was to “Let the best talent in the world enter US legally. Study. And then be a part of the intellectual force in the country. Raise its economy. Raise company profits. Penetrate asian market. Make Asians work for less money. Increase GDP”

But Trump, the perpetual flag bearer of conservative America, who pitched for closing the door for outsiders. And the intellectuals, who would earn more wage by working as the intellectual force to the American companies and the less intellect ones agreeing to work for a lower wage in US. So now, US closes the door. All the above is gone. Riding on the wave of conservative politics, UK is also closing its doors with Brexit.

But who is doing something different here. It is the EU (UK not included).

Most of the companies will shift its base to EU from UK. But wait, where is the intellectual force for the these companies, who are shifting bases. How will the governments of EU pitch these companies to come and set up offices in EU countries. They have smoothly done it, by opening up their borders for intellectualism.

50K-60K international students have enrolled in Europe universities, as of 2018. And this number is bound to increase with time. Most of the intellectual population from the Asian countries are migrating to EU for higher studies. For the first time, TU Delft (a technical college) started courses in English in 2016–17 academic year. Coincidentally, 2016–17 was the year when Donald Trump, the conservative, came into office in US. 2016–17 was when the referendum of Brexit was initiated. 2016–17 was when EU opened up its intellectual borders. Was it coincidence? Naah, it was all planned!

Many students who were moving to US, have shed their plans and have started to consider EU for higher study options because of the political atmosphere.Who are the benefits here? — the bank who are offering loans and charging interest on all the student loans, the universities in EU, the migration of English — Tech profs from western world, the land/ building owners in EU countries, rent seeking owners of shops, the food market, the new vegetarian restaurants that are going to open, the transport system.

All these steps of EU will lead to higher tax collection. Ultimately, a pat of the back EU!

The EU region will be flooded with masters degree graduates and these companies moving to EU and setting up their offices will have great resources and fresh talent to choose/hire from. A vicious circle, which is so beautifully knit out, by the government and the political thinkers/ policy makers that, this step to open up EU to the English speaking Asian populace will create a win-win situation. US will now have a contented look at this world situation. For a brief period of past 50+ more years, US had intellectual forces being pumped into their companies from Asia. Now, US closed its door. EU opened!

Life is oddly strange isn’t it. US filled its stomach with the best intellectual force from all over the world, from Einstein, to Larry Ellison of Oracle, to Sundar Pichai of Google, to Satya Nadella of Microsoft to Shantanu Narayen of Adobe. Now it is the time of EU, to absorb and produce such intellects in the next 20–30 years with the newly moving companies to its region.

Life is strange. For the past 50–60 years US stuffed itself with the intellectual force. And now its EU’s turn.

In the end, everyone will get their share.

EU yesterday: Apna time aayega.

EU Today: Apna time aagaya.
